Privacy Policy - Koshur Calendar

Thank you for using Koshur Calendar. This app is a humble effort to serve the Kashmiri Pandit community, and we deeply value your trust. This page explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data

The app requests access to your device's location only to calculate accurate local sunrise and sunset times. This data is used on-device in real time and is never stored, transmitted, or shared with any server or third party.

Crash Reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

To help us fix bugs and improve your experience, the app uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports when something goes wrong. This may include your device model, OS version, and what the app was doing at the time. No personal information is included. This data is processed by Google under Firebase's privacy policy.

App Integrity (Firebase App Check)

The app uses Firebase App Check to make sure requests to our services come from the real app. This protects the app from misuse. App Check uses device attestation tokens that are not linked to you personally.

User-Created Events

Any personal reminders or events you create are stored locally on your device using the device's built-in storage (SQLite). This data never leaves your device.

Cloud Storage (Firebase Storage)

The app uses Firebase Storage to fetch shareable devotional card images. These are simple network requests and do not send any personal data. Nothing you create is uploaded to our servers.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Name, email address, or any personal identifiers
Contact lists or other app data
Advertising IDs or tracking identifiers
Photos, microphone, or camera data
Financial or payment information
Browsing history or data from other apps

3. Third-Party Services

The app relies on a few Firebase services from Google to work well for you:

Firebase Crashlytics for anonymous crash reporting, so we can fix issues quickly
Firebase App Check for verifying app integrity
Firebase Storage for delivering shareable devotional card images

These services are covered by Firebase's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy. We do not use any advertising networks, social logins, or user-tracking analytics.

The app is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, which have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those separately.

4. Permissions Requested

Location (optional): Used only to calculate local sunrise and sunset times. If you choose not to allow this, sun times will simply be hidden. Everything else in the app works just fine without it.
Notifications (optional): Used to deliver reminders for festivals and tithis that you explicitly configure. No notifications are sent without your opt-in.

5. Data Storage & Security

All app data (calendar info, aarti texts, and your personal events) stays on your device. The calendar data comes bundled with the app and works without any internet connection.

We have no way to access, view, or delete anything on your device. If you ever want to remove all app data, just uninstall the app.

6. Children's Privacy

The app does not collect information from children under 13. There are no accounts, social features, or data collection of any kind.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
